Professional Investment Services was formed in Australia by a group of five financial advisers and seven accountants. Professional Investment Services obtained a Dealer's Licence on 6 August 1996, and its AFSL on 8 December 2003.
The founding members, many of whom still work for the Group (including Group CEO Robbie Bennetts), recognised an unmet need in the market for accountants and financial advisers to work more closely to provide investors a range of value-added services.
By 2003 Professional Investment Services had grown to be the second largest dealer group in Australia and reached No.1 in Money Management's Top 100 Dealer Group Survey in June 2006 where it remains today.
